Using AI to Remove Rogue Listings

Protecting your brand on Amazon and Walmart means protecting your Buy Box. That’s the core insight that has propelled the IPSecure team from Day One: brands that want to deliver authentic experiences and products to shoppers on Amazon and Walmart need purpose-built technology. Technology that understands your product catalog, your Buy Box performance and can determine which listings are impacting your Buy Box negatively.

IPSecure grasps your marketplace business on a deep level. We monitor your product catalog and Buy Box performance hourly, developing granular insights. This level of monitoring also identifies listings for your product that are not part of your catalog. Those rogue listings could be duplicates, they could promote counterfeit or grey market goods or they could feature products that lack US regulatory labeling elements. In short, rogue listings are created by third parties and those listings not only drive traffic away from you, those listings introduce customer risk and intellectual property abuse.

For example, if your products are in a highly regulated category such as health, cosmetics or personal care, you risk your customers’ well-being and you risk non-compliance with the FDA if your product packaging is in violation of US Government regulations and marketplace policies.

When those scenarios occur, you lose customers and you lose revenue. In many cases, the quantity and volume of rogue product listings can be several times larger than a brand's official catalog. Not only that, but the unknown third-parties which create these listings typically steal imagery from both the official brands website and their catalog listings. Detecting and stopping this type of copyright infringement at scale is very challenging for brands because it requires significant resources and manpower. Or it did until now.

Introducing AI Image Matching

In 2023, IPSecure introduced the initial version of our ASIN Discovery System, an AI-driven, customizable platform that allowed both commercial and legal teams within large consumer products companies to jointly monitor and remove unauthorized Amazon product listings at scale.

We’ve expanded those capabilities and are proud to introduce our enhanced Product Discovery System, featuring our new AI Image Matching technology, which identifies, analyzes, and scores product listings for both Amazon and Walmart.

Example of how the AI Image Matching tool helps to identify rogue listings on Amazon and Walmart.

The AI Image Matching technology uses machine learning algorithms to make the system highly automated and extremely scalable. Using the reference images from your website, the AI agent scours Amazon and Walmart to identify similar images, compares them to the images in your catalog, and scores them. We then surface the high-scoring images for action, including removal. You could remove the images from a listing or even remove entire listings due to misuse of your copyrighted content.

And because the system is using machine learning algorithms, it is constantly refining its detection and scoring rates, increasing accuracy. Constant AI monitoring surfaces new listings every day, further improving performance.

The Product Discovery System with AI Image Matching gives brands the ability to conduct copyright monitoring and enforcement at scale with high levels of confidence on both Amazon and Walmart. That translates to better Buy Box win rates and more satisfied customers. Protecting your Buy Box helps protect your brand, a true win-win.
